DEEP EXCAVATIONS
■ Steel sheet piles are an option for fast execution of retaining wall enclosures for excavations deeper than 3m. The Larssen-type interlock system allows the wall to be rigidly tightened and at the same time waterproof at around 98%. Special sealing solutions can be used for 100% waterproofing.
■ With a strutting system in place, the excavation quotas can reach up to 20m in depth, with an open excavation.
■ Apart from the speed of installing the steel sheet piles, a great benefit is the possibility of extraction and reuse.
■ In non-cohesive soils where the level of groundwater is close to the level of the natural land, the steel sheet piles are the most practical option from the economic point of view and considering speed of execution. The retaining sheet pile enclosures are often equipped with wellpoint systems for dewatering.
