Steel Sheet Piles are structural elements typically used in geotechnical works, as retention walls. They replace diaphragm walls and secant / tangent pilots and they are installed much faster and in many cases at a lower cost. They can be used for permanent or temporary purposes, their extraction being possible so that they can be reused, contributing to the circular economy principle. Also according to the same principle, Dewatering & Silent Piling sells sheet piles made from recycled material.

AZ Section

U Section

Steel sheet piles are laminated profiles, U and AZ sections, and they differ in the form and the way they interlock. Sheet piles can also be used in combined structures such as HZM, that is, an AZ type sheet between 2 H profiles, or a combined sheet pile – metal-tube profile. These combined structures are typical in waterfront structures like ports.

Steel sheet piles are also used for deep excavations, well below the hydrostatic level. The sheet piles have waterproofing role, being possible to apply a bituminous substance throughout the length of the interlock or even weld the interlocks for the permanent applications.

INSTALLATION OPTIONS FOR STEEL SHEET PILES

The most common way of installing sheet piles is vibro-hammering. However, we must make the distinction here between a standard vibro-hammer and a variable moment vibro-hammer.

We have the most advanced types of vibrohammers of high frequency and variable moment.
The difference between standard vibro-hammers and those with high frequency and
variable moment is that at start up and shut down, the variable moment, due to the system which is based on the variation of the positions of the eccentric weights, has the amplitude and the moment equal to 0. This phenomenon is obtained by maintaining mass pairs in opposition. It is known that the biggest
impact that a standard vibro-hammer has on the environment is at start up and shut down.

▸ compared to a standard vibro-hammer, the high frequency and variable moment produces less vibration in the surrounding area, which are propagated over short distances. The site measurements showed that the level of vibration measured at a distance of 2.00 m from a VM vibro-hammer corresponds approximately with the level of vibrations measured around a standard vibrohammer at a distance of 15.00 m;

▸ due to this eccentric weight control system, the vibro-hammer produces virtually no vibration on the crane;

▸ the noise level is comparable with that due to road traffic.

This technology is used especially for very large profiles, in hard soils, at great distances from existing buildings. Impact Hammers are most often used in waterfront structures or offshore works, where the profile length can exceed 35m. Common also for driving for monopile steel tubes, used for the foundation of offshore wind turbines.

The Silent Piler hydraulic press is used for mounting sheet piles and steel tubes in the immediate vicinity of the houses and in the vicinity of sensitive buildings, historical buildings or with high seismic risk. This machine is unique in Romania and among the few in Europe.

How does the Silent Piler hydraulic press work?

The hydraulic press moves on the steel sheet piles. and drives without vibration each profile exerting on it a pressing force obtained from the resistance of pulling the previous sheet piles.
Suitable for cohesive but also granular soils, and where the soil is very hard, we can attach accessories like pre-drilling or water jetting unit capable of penetrating even difficult, hard clay layers.

Stone Columns installation is a convenient method for improvement of soft ground. Stone Columns are used to improve the infrastructure of roads, railways and buildings. We work with two technologies: Vibroflot Stone Columns, Geotextile Encased Stone Columns (Ringtrac®).
ANCHORS
We can install: Concrete Bulb Anchors, Duckbill Anchors (Metal Anchor), Tie-rods. Concrete Bulb Anchors are used to support retaining and support walls. Duckbill Anchors are used both for permanent and temporary cases.
RIGID INCLUSIONS
Rigid inclusions are an economically advantageous form of land improvement. There are unreinforced concrete columns, installed to take vertical loads. Our teams can install Rigid Inclusions by vibration, using the Silent Piling method or using a drilling rig.
DIAPHRAGM WALLS
Diaphragm walls are subsurface reinforced concrete structures formed and cast in slurry trenches. Excavation is accomplished by digging panels along temporary guide walls using a mechanical or hydraulic clam shell attached to a rig or crane.
DEWATERING SYSTEMS
Dewatering Systems are installations that allow excavating and constructing foundations below groundwater level, thus enabling dry work surfaces. Our company performs several types of dewatering works.
